Moved back to Naples FL, near his mother with his 12 year old soon [in 03]. ...had a year off then back to work again in 2003 as a poker dealer. "If you hear anything [for programmer] let me know.Stan moved to Dublin Ireland in mm yyyy. Reports 10 Jul 05, "Can't get a job here because I never got a degree and the "Old Age" is also entered into the picture. Cost so much to live I had to try and go back to work. My son and I have discussed the situation and I will be moving on again. Either this Christmas or next summer. Looking for a new country to hang my hat. Bulgaria is looking good …cheap." On 01 Aug 06 says, "Also just finishing a year of school learning Java, VB.net and various other new buzzwords for my resume. …getting ready to go on 3 Month OJT from the school. Hopefully will get a job out of it. 18 in the class and I am the only one without a place so far. Who said there's no age discrimination! Before the heart attack last year my son and I went around the world!!! Started the trip before he turned 12. Dublin-Miami-San Fran-Hawaii-Narita-Singapore-Kuala Lumpur-Phuket(Thailand)-Singapore-Dublin. Sinapore to Phuket was by train. What an adventure!! Had so much fun we are planning another for next year. Dublin-Miami(see Mom)-Lima-By Land To-Santiago-Easter Island-Papeete Tahiti(looking forward to this)- Australia-Bangkok-Dublin. Stan will continue on from Bangkok to Dublin by himself. I plan to spend about 2 months in LOS (Land Of Smiles). Tadpole, who hopes to retire in January, said he will join be for a while. And also Mark Hirneise … who you don't have in the directory will be joining me also. He was a site rep in Naples in the middle .." On 26 Sep 06 reports, "…moving back to Florida last week of November. Son and I have decided I will have more fun there and he gets to come to warm weather a lot more often. Enjoyed my 2 years here in Ireland but hate the prices. Watched my son go from a little boy getting the toys out of McDonald's happy meals to a young man getting his first kiss (didn't see this)at a Disco (for some reason they call all dances over here Discos). Pretty much accomplished what I wanted to do here but can't wait to get back.
Health Rpt: 07 Oct 06 Massive heart attack 18 May 05. In his apartment in Dublin, Ireland, underwent quadruple bypass. and was in the hospital since then Following the bypass, he encountered pneumonia, gout, leg infections and various other problems (about nine weeks in hospital, getting out 17 Jul 05). Stan noted 30 Jul 05, "Out …and getting ready for Rehab. Don't know how that …[will] go as need Hip surgery from … Cinguecento, Italy accident … in 82. Doctor told me it would catch up with me in 20 years…" On 01 Aug 06 says, " Well Just had the hip replaced …. Pain free, amazing.

I downsized enough to even save close to 1000 lbs off the movers estimate. They want to hire me on to advise some of their future customers.
It's been a really crazy couple of years and hopefully things will calm down at least for a while. No more surprises, please.....Thanks to all of you who have offered friendly ears, shoulders, company etc. since last August.

Bio ---Retired 3 Jan 2004 accepting a buyout with 13 others. A second bout with Renal Cancer took Mary Watters' husband on the 22nd August 2004. It had in remission for some ten years.

Click to enlarge,< Back key to return.Bio: Here goes[says Dick]: After being transferred from Norfolk where I enjoyed working from March 1972 –March 1989, I was assigned to work as Tech Mgr (under Marty Meade) on an INS system developing CD based DataBases for doing automated Immigrations Passport Inspections at London’s Heathrow and Gatwick air terminals. This involved travel to install and train the usage of this laptop based LookOut system. Also on this project was Automated Fingerprint System employed at border crossings in the southwest (alongside Joe Cariola). That tasking was completed in May 1991 when I went to work with IMSS (Dick Powers). The contract was Tech Support on the NAVCOMPARS at Cheltenham, and lasted until January 1995, this time I was working with Ernie Kangelos on the Proforma message project using Ada/AdaSage. Back with CDSI in November 1995 (With Ernie), I went to work on the UNIX based Army Criminal Investigation Reporting System where my function was to assist remote Army CID units with system problem analysis, as well as do remote travel to US and European CID units to assist with the installation of the Network hardware and software. This part of my contract ended November 1997. In December 1997 now with ACS (formerly CDSI) my next adventure was as a network analyst at the NAVY Defense Mega Center (DMC) in Mechanicsburg Pa. (under Brad Butler). This responsibility required knowledge of both current and legacy systems technologies utilizing SNA and IP Transfer architecture. This was both interesting and challenging. I was asked if I would transfer in February 1999, (still with ACS), to Chambersburg Pa (Letterkenny Army Supply Depot) to provide Assembler Language/CICS Cobol/JCL (IBM 360) as they couldn’t get any legacy (ALC) programmers but come to find out the actual work was to assist with the installation and training of late versions of the ARMY Supply software as well. This involved travel throughout the US installing the system. On September 9th 1999 (9/9/99) I started WETZEL SSE, Inc and after starting my company WETZEL SSE, Inc. I was able to pick up the contract and continued the work there at Letterkenny until March 2002 when the ARMY transferred the function to Philadelphia under a CSC contract (which they would not accept me as a sub-contractor). So on March 27th (my birthday) 2002 I retired from actively driving great distances to work, and decided to do Small Office computing assistance, installing both hardware and software in small businesses here in the Frederick Maryland area.
I have continued doing small projects but REALLY ENJOY not having to drive the 60+ miles each way every day. I am now involved with Missionary work in Nicaragua. We visit and support feeding programs, an orphanage, and have an affiliation with numerous small churches in the Diriamba and Jinotepe area on the western seaboard of Nicaragua. This is exciting work and VERY REWARDING when you see discarded children being taken care of and given a chance to change their lives.

Last Word: -- 15 Jun 04 -- Jack sent me a correction on Stonie as reported in my 4 Jun e-mail to all where Bh said, "...And anymore "fond" memories of old friends you think should be published. Like who was Stonie's "girl friend" that "swept him up" at the The Shack?"
Jack "corrected" me saying,
You must be mistaken about Stonie and a "girlfriend" at The Shack. The way I remember it was some happily married guys having a beer or two and conducting career counseling for some recent college graduates who were in obvious need of guidance.
Bio: Started at NAVTASC in 1986, worked on the SCG/SCATS team for Jimmy Craven doing Documentation. I worked back and forth on the CDSI/CSC contracts first as a word processor, then editor, and finally group manager. Worked in building 50, the basement, I was there until 1993 working through 2 pregnancies. Those boys are now 16 and 14. I have two older boys, 32 and 27 and have two grandchildren. Yes, boys ages 10 and 5 with a new one due in April of 2006. Yes, finally a girl!!! I had a stint with breast cancer but am now fully recovered. I now work for the same company that I left NAVTASC to work for, Group 1 Software. My company was recently acquired by Pitney Bowes. I am a programmer working with CRMs, Siebel and Peoplesoft. I divorced in 1997 and am living free and single. [Updated Jan 2006]

Last Word: Xmas 2003 -- Kathy Conover reported she met CeCe and Ina Bolton for dinner just before Christmas 2003. Saying of course, Ina is still in high gear, donating much of her time to the Food Bank. Cece and Travis travel and hang out at their home in the Northern Neck of VA
Bio: -- Chris began in NAVTASC in 1980 for Charley Roggers and then Don Jochum. Left NAVTASC in 1991 for a Technical Publication Editor's job in the publications division at NTSIC working for Brenda Chapman. When NTSIC became part of JITC, Chris and the rest of publications were assigned to NTCS Washington and eventually moved to the Navy Yard, where she took care of Routing Indicator assignments and still is the Navy's rep at the ACP 117 working group meetings consisting of Air Force, Army, DISA people.
COMNAVTELCOM N3 took over her group and she was moved to HDQTRS with the same responsibilities plus involvement with the Defense Messaging System (DMS). Later the Naval Network & Space Operations Command (NNSOC) took over N3 and she was moved to Dahlgren VA where she works as a GS-12 Communications Specialist. In 1991 she married Jack Hester (NTSIC Govie) and they live, along with Chris's daughter, Jessica in Southern Maryland, 16 miles from Dahlgren.-- as of 24 Jan 2005
BH memory: New as Charley's secretary in Bldg. 50 Cheltenham 2nd floor would retype things rather than correct errors with the "new" personal computers. A nice, fun, "lets party" girl.

Thanksgiving 2005 in Fairfax hospital found 3 tumors in Bill’s brain that are inoperable and released him 2nd Dec to care of his wife Diane at home. A biopsy was accomplished and chemotherapy begun. His walking and movement were impaired. He recognized people but having difficulty carrying on a normal conversation, a big change for Bill. On 18 Feb 06 he returned to Fairfax Hospital with an unknown infection in his lungs; placed on feeding tubes, heavy antibiotics and not allowed visitors. Bill beamed up abut eleven AM 06 Mar 06. Services were held at the Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Eldon Street, Herndon, VA. 20170; viewing on Friday 10 Mar and service (closed casket) on Saturday 11 Mar at 1PM. Donations in memory of William L. BH Memory: Mostly I knew of Bill White at the Navy Yard. In late eighties he helped Bruce Arnold save me from a "NAVTASC-powers-that-be" displeasure that reality did match what they thought and expected(smile).

BH Memory: In 72 the CDSI author of RCFX, one of best pieces of code ever written. Took a job in Germany 3 or 4 months after Guam install. Middle name [Captain] Kirk. Had a $1200 phone bill from Guam. Purple Clematis on porch in Kings Park. In Y2K he and Shirley living and working in Athens AL. Son Kevin married.
BH Memory: Was a fun guy, Henry and I always kidding with him just before retirement and while at Cheltenham only qualified to "pump gas at the shell station", you had to be there(smile). Well liked thus the "Duckworth/York" yearly golf tournament.
Bio: Retired in 1991 -- CWO3 at TELCOM Code 03 as POC on BH's MMS project as well as GateGuard, PCMT, MARCEMP, NCP (with Terry Basham), LDMX (again with Terry Basham), Fleet Systems (NAVMACS V2, V3, V5, AND CUDIXS), DMS). Retired from Navy in 91 and joined SEMCOR, that ACS purchased, then TITAN and transfered to Validity/Titan, now working on DISA JITC contract for Northrop Grumman Information Technology as Deputy PM and Indian Head Site Manager.

Bio: JC left the Air Force in Aug of 1978 (after 22 years). Joined us via CDSI until Feb 1980 when I became a civil servant retiring 3 Jan 97. JC was the "soul" of the Software Control Group (SCG).
JC and, Daughter, Regina, and Son, Kevin, and granddaughter Cambria, reside in Anne Arundel County of Maryland. Wife Rose, known as Pam, passed March 30th 2004. Rex, [1987 - 2003] the dog, (my whipping post) was finally put to sleep in Oct 2003.

Subject: A FRIEND IN NEED
Friends, As most of you already know, Bill White was recently taken ill and hospitalized as a result of three brain tumors. After a week of tests and treatment in the hospital, he was sent home to rest and receive physical therapy while the doctors decide what to do next.
Bill's wife Diane and his two sons have been with him virtually around the clock since the onset of his disability. Bill is alert and responsive, though sometimes disoriented and forgetful, and can get around with the aid of a walker. He needs someone with him 24/7. You can imagine the strain on Diane and the boys. They need some support, especially in view of the uncertain future.
Based on a brief chat with Diane, I think the most practically helpful things we can do right now would be to:
1) sit with Bill for a couple of hours or so when we can to give Diane the opportunity to do other things or take a much-needed break. It would be great if we could come up with a schedule.
2) bring, or have delivered, meals that are ready-to-eat and easy to clean up after.
3) just drop in for a visit as a stimulus and distraction for Bill.
Please be advised that these are just my thoughts as an immediate reaction to the little I know of the situation. Youse guys are no doubt wiser than I about these things. At the moment I don't believe Diane would mind a telephone call from any of you. Her cell number is 703-932-9598.
